Subject: Living in England

What was the weather like when you first came from Pakistan?

The weather… it used to snow a lot. There was so much snow and you had to go to work… go to the mills. You’d get there two, three hours late. Even going to London, the train was late there. They’d have shovels for the underground train and the driver would get out and with the shovel slowly clear the line. It was really difficult… for weeks at a time it would stay and not melt, now it doesn’t snow like that… it would be frozen on roofs like a glass sheet for many, many weeks…we’ve come out of a lot of difficult times; thanks to Allah.
