Subject: Caste
I think back in the day that was massive, massive, this caste culture, but I think as times got on now that’s totally faded away. I mean, yeah it still happens.Do you think the generations that have come now have actually dispelled it?
Yeah, they are they’re dispelling it all now because it’s like yeah you’re not back in India. I mean in India it’s still so strong, very strong I mean some families if they find out that their daughter or their son is seeing somebody that is of a lower caste system, then you’re talking murder, death and all kinds of these things. Whereas over here it’s quite accepted and like you said I think it is to do with today’s generation, hand on heart how many people, I mean I think the people that came in the 60’s/70’s they have their beliefs having accepted the English culture and bringing up us kids the way we are now, it’s like we don’t want our kids to be unhappy, which I think is a good thing. Well you can look at it as a good thing or you could look at it as a bad thing, the bad point being is their background, religion being totally diluted and they’re going more towards the English way, but I think no, I don’t think that will happen me to be honest I don’t, because if what my mum and dad have instilled in me I know I will instil in my child and you know hopefully it will carry on. So I think it’s a good mix, I do.
