Subject: Trolly buses
We had trolly buses in those days as well. A trolly bus is a bus that runs off electricity; there were cables running along the road, and there were two bars coming from the top of the bus, and they were attached to the electric cables. So basically there was an electric motor inside the bus, which was causing the bus to run off electricity. It’s like trams. Although they’ve been stopped, now, but in those days there was quite a lot of them. The door was a the back, so it didn’t used to close, it just used to open, so you could jump on while the bus was still moving or jump wherever it stopped. Nobody stopped you and they had conductors in those days to take the fares.
