Subject: Going back to South Asia

Do you ever go back to India?

Yeah, I've been loads of times. I love it.

What do you do when you go to India?

Well, we've got relatives there, so just laze about, go to the shops and see all the temples, because thats the massive thing- I still haven't seen them all, I've seen a good few, but theres loads out there and theres a lot of history behind them as well. I'm one of these that wants do dig up information, because theres so much to India that I don't even know about, so I'm always going back every three or four years.

Is that to do with your parents taking you to temples when you were younger?

Yeah, I think that's got a lot to do with it. When relatives from India came over here, they used to talk about when they were little and went to India, and did this and that. It gave me a bit of curiosity to see where I was when I was growing up, where they took me. So I've been back to our village loads of times.

Whats your village called?

Its called Bunghi and its in Jalunga. But then we've got other relatives who live further away. Next time I've said I'm not going to stop at relatives, I want to stop at a hotel, simply because when you're at your relatives, you've got people coming from left, right and centre. Saying "oh, they've come from England, lets go and see them", and as much as I love it I think that I need to do it just for me one day. Go with my friends and just see what there is to see, but I'm glad my parents told me about my background, and I'm glad they took me when I was smaller a few times, because I love it.
