Mohan Sokhal
Councillor Mohan Sokhal has lived in Huddersfield for 35 years and is an active member of the community. Mohan was the first Asian Mayor of Huddersfield from 2001-2002 and was elected as Mayor during his 32 years of employment as a bus driver.
For ten years Mohan represented Kirklees on the West Yorkshire Police authority and also chaired the Huddersfield, Batley and Spenborough Police forums. He has also been involved with the Indian Workers' Association for the last 20 years and in between family and work enjoys football, a Huddersfield Town Supporter, cricket and gardening.
