M. Hanif Asad
Hanif Asad, now 70 years old came to the United Kingdom in 1961 at the age of 21 years. He first settled in Glasgow with relatives and moved later on in the year to Huddersfield, as he had been told there were more jobs available in the town. Hanif first worked at Hoyle & sons, Prospect Mill in Longwood, from which he went on to work in several mills. Hanif still lives in Huddersfield, Milnsbridge and works with the local community as a Chaplin at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, a key member of the Interfaith Council and volunteers for the South Asian Healthy Living Partnership. Hanif and his wife have also been active in the Gardens association in which they promoted Healthy eating and living. In his spare time Hanif enjoys gardening and reading.
